About Ta Ke Ti Na...

A new way of learning for life, body and mind

The Ta Ke Ti Na process, developed in the 1970 by Austrian composer and percussionist Reinhard Flatischler, combines principles and methologies from various fields. Music, dance communication, neurological research, and chaos theory are integrated to create a new process for learning.

Ta Ke Ti Na is a group process that allows access to the body´s innate rhythmic knowledge, conveying rhythm in a natural and organic manner. Instead of be taught random rhythm patterns, participants are guided into the experince of rhythm archetypes - a matrix which constitutes the underlying structure of all forms of music.

Working with the body as the main instrument

in Ta Ke Ti Na participants can encounter thythm directly and intensely. Through vocalisation, clapping and stepping they are guided into 3 seperate rhythmic layers.

Learning at the edge of chaos

While the synergy of stabilisation and destabilisation causes individuals to lose the rhythm or “fall out”, the group continues, sustaining the rhythm and bringing everyone gently back to the basic pulse. Self-organization occurs and they experience “falling back in”, carried by the rhythm of the collective.

“Simultaneity”

... the teapot is boiling, the telephone is ringing, and someone is knocking at the door. We don´t know what to do first. We are just overwhelmed.

The simultaneity, however, what is ment in the TA KE TI NA context, is exactly the opposite. It is a state of mind, a way of perception that is new and often even confounding for many people. Because we are able to send and receive on multiple “antennas” at the same time, we are also able to enter a state that allows different or even opposing points of view to coexist. By simultaneously anchoring several different rhythms in our body movements, we allow our minds to naturally experience this state. The rational and the emotional the active and the passive, speaking and listening are suddenly perceived simultaneously. A state of absolute inner silence opens up. Fullness and emptiness, motion ans stillness, inside and outside: all are naturally connected with this state of silence.

The work focuses on stimulating vitality, self trust and clarity of perception in everybody member of the group. Inner silence can continue to resonate in the daily life. Breathing exercises and energy work supports and prepares participants for the rhythm journeys.
